Not One Inch
Clarification from Marc
Mom - I was hoping your trainer would say
"DAH!", not "Duh"...
First round of Chemotherapy
Marc here - last night was dad's first round of chemo, and according to mom, everything went really well. He felt pretty good, there were no bad side effects other than a bit of heaviness in his arm where the needle was, and I just checked with her this morning and he's at work and apparently doing fine. So praise God for that! Dad also started the oral medication yesterday, so it appears that the IV and oral meds will be running concurrently.
Dad and mom will also be going to the MAC tonight for the cancer wellfit program. Mom seems pretty excited about it - she even gets a personal trainer for five weeks free! Very exciting - I'm hoping that her trainer is a big, muscular German named Lars who says "Dah!" a lot.
Thanks as always for your prayers, and keep praying!
Big Week Coming Up
Hi all - Marc here. We have a couple of things on the agenda this week for everyone to pray about, so here they are.
1. Dad starts chemo on Tuesday. He'll be going in on Tuesday evening for blood work and to talk with Dr. Sobong, and then they'll administer his first dose. As far as I know, there's no set schedule for how long he'll be receiving this. I think that the doctor will be looking at whether or not the treatment is effective in order to decide how long to continue administering it. So pray that the treatment will be effective, and that any side effects that dad experiences will be minimal.
2. Also, on Monday night, dad and mom will be participating in the Cancer WellFit program, which is a health-club sponsored fitness program for cancer patients and their spouses. They have an organizational meeting Monday night, and then they'll be exercising Mondays and Wednesdays for a few months. Hopefully, this will be beneficial to both of them. Just pray that the program would be helpful, would help dad to re-develop some muscle tone that he's lost recently, and would help to keep them both in good spirits.
Anyway, that's about it for now. As always, feel free to e-mail me with questions (
Welcome to Not One Inch!
And a good morning/evening/midday to you all! Welcome to the new cancer update weblog, Not One Inch. (For those who need to know where the name comes from,
check this link at my other weblog, marcland.)
I figured that this would be a good way to keep in constant touch with all the folks who want to know how dad is doing and what to pray for, and if I can train them correctly, it's a great place for mom and dad to personally update everyone as well. So bookmark this page, check it every so often (it doesn't take that long - just do it every day!), and keep praying!
Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
